Family history

Do you have a Yorkshire or Lancashire ancestor you can’t find?  Do you need some research carrying out but can’t get to the record office yourself? Evergreen Ancestry carries out research throughout Yorkshire and Lancashire and can undertake both large and small scale projects.

Examples of the type of research include identifying a birth or death for an ancestor, finding out where they were buried; or compiling a detailed family tree for several generations; or delving into a bit more detail about one particular ancestor: perhaps one with an interesting occupation or military career, or maybe even a criminal background!  No project is too large or too small, though the minimum commitment is two hours research to begin with.

I carry out research throughout Yorkshire, Lancashire and Cheshire.

Approach

How I approach a family history project is to agree with you in advance what the objectives of the research will be and to set a budget or agree a set number of hours research.  This will be based on information you already have about your family and the available records.  I normally carry out 30 minutes free no obligation consultation to assess what research could be undertaken.  If you wish to go ahead with the research, I will confirm when I can start the project and when it will be completed. I charge an hourly rate for research and report writing. Copies of documents and travel are charged at cost and agreed in advance.

Once the report is complete it will be emailed to you, or if you prefer a printed copy, it can be posted to you for an additional cost.  If a family tree is to be provided as part of the project it will be emailed as part of the report, but can also be supplied as a GEDCOM file (suitable for import to family tree software).

Reports provide details of all research carried out including where no records were found, and are presented in a clear and detailed way. Suggestions on how to develop the research further are included as part of the report.

There’s more detail about how to commission family history research under Terms and conditions or contact Evergreen Ancestry to start your research now.
